My Twitter Toolbox is an awesome site full of great content, but if you forget your password it can be a little frustrating to recover it.
Trust me, I know! It uses the WordPress password reset technology which may seem a little cumbersome to you at first, but we’re going to help you with that with this quick, but very complete tutorial. Follow these instructions and you can’t fail:
Step 1
Click on “Lost your password?” in the login box in the upper right corner of the site.
WordPress blogging platform takes over running some backend processes and delivers you to the next step in the process.
Step 2
You will need one of two pieces of information you used when you signed up or My Twitter Toolbox: Username or e-mail address. If you can’t remember either, submit a request for your username at http://NAMSsupport.com – that’s our support desk.
After you input the required information, click on “Get New Password”. You’ll the first of two e-mails. Go to your inbox now.
Step 3
Your e-mail will arrive immediately with this message. It will confirm your Username. But the next part is the key.
“To reset your password…” click the link below. If for some reason your link is not a hyperlink taking you to a web page, be sure to copy the entire link into a browser address bar and hit submit. You’ll know you’ve done the right thing when you see the message shown in Step 4.
Step 4
This is the piece that always trips me up. WordPress actually shows you the login box, but doesn’t what you to use it. When you clicked that link earlier, WP created another e-mail with your new password and sent it to your inbox.
So, if you read the instruction in the yellow box and forget about the login box for now, you’ll find the critical message in your inbox.
Step 5
This time, WordPress sends you an e-mail with a strong password that is randomly generated. Copy that password and remember your username. You’ll need both in the next step.
Step 6
Copy the password (make sure there are no spaces at the end) and input it in the password space. Then input your username. Put a check mark in the “Remember Me” box. Click the Log In button.
Step 7
The next screen you should see is the logged in screen from My Twitter Toolbox. Congratulations!
If you get an error message, please input your password and username again and make sure that you input the right characters.
Now, start digging around in MTTB.
