Birdbrain: A Twitter Tool for iPhone

February 12, 2011 By Jo Adair Leave a Comment

Follow friends on your iPhone with Birdbrain

Tracking your friends and followers can be time consuming, especially on a mobile device. Birdbrain is a Twitter tool designed for iPhone that automates tracking, allowing you to decide if you are increasing your number of followers in a timely manner.

Birdbrain takes a snapshot of your follower and friend counts and displays changes over a chosen time period. This can be a day, a week, a two-week period, or a month. When you go to the summary page, you will see at a glance the number of followers you have, how many you have blocked, how many retweets you have gotten, and how many have updated their status. It also supports tracking tweets and mentions. Birdbrain automatically refreshes every 20 minutes while it is open.

There are buttons to list followers, following, and blocked tweeps. A plus symbol indicates they are new; a minus, that they were removed. If a number is displayed, this user was either removed before their details loaded or they have had their Twitter account suspended. You can track this daily in order to spot trends over time. When you tap on a user, you can see more information. Check out their timeline and follow, unfollow, or block them.

Birdbrain is a social media application that can also be used to follow multiple accounts. The application will segregate and store statistics for each account. There is also a search feature; you can find a username on Twitter, then view the bio and decide if you want to follow that person. Another useful tool is the ability to view who is not reciprocating on your following/follower lists.

One feature that would be useful is notification when someone starts or stops following. Knowing if your follower count is rising or falling is an important part of social media marketing. Staying on top of the numbers is essential to spotting trends and evaluating your effectiveness. This inexpensive iPhone application makes quick work of tracking your number of followers.

Do you use an iPhone? If you use Birdbrain or a different Twitter tool for the iPhone, let us know what you think of it in the comments below.
